  • The Banking Clan will sign you treaty.—San Hill to Count Dooku, on the IGBC joining the Separatists

The InterGalactic Banking Clan (also known as the InterGalactic Bank ClanGalactic Banking Clan, Banking Clan, or the IG Banking Clan and often abbreviated to IGBC or IBC) was one of the most powerful and influential commerce guilds that were aligned with the Galactic Republic. Its name likely referred to its extragalactic influence—it was known that the Banking Clan controlled assets as far as halfway between the galaxy and its nearest satellite galaxy. The Tonith family of Muunilinst was among the most well-known Muun clans that were affiliated with the IBC, with several of it's members even serving as Chairman.

The InterGalactic Banking Clan came to be affiliated with the Order of the Sith Lords since as early as the time of Darth Tenebrous and would continue to be as such by the time of the Bith Sith Lord's apprentice, Darth Plagueis - known also as Damask Holdings head Hego Damask. At the end of the Separatist Crisis, the banking conglomerate secretly signed as a member of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, providing the secessionist movement with the necessary funding and several models of battle droids and capital ships. Despite this, the IBC would conduct business with both the Separatists and the Republic, even having Rush Clovis and later Nix Card serving as representatives and Mak Plain as a moneylender in the Galactic Senate. At an early stage during the Clone Wars, the Republic fought against the Confederacy in the Battle of Muunilinst, which resulted in Chairman San Hill and other Muun leaders aligned with the Separatists being taken into custody. The Core Five were put in control of the Banking Clan, until Rush Clovis exposed their corruption and was put in their place. However, a scandal erupted when it appeared that Clovis had attempted to join the secessionist movement (a plan secretly orchestrated by Count Dooku and Darth Sidious), resulting in the banks being put under the command of the Supreme Chancellor.

At the end of the Clone Wars, San Hill was executed alongside the other Separatist leaders on Mustafar, while many of the Confederacy of Independent Systems' planets were conquered by the Republic-turned Galactic Empire. Despite this, the InterGalactic Banking Clan would continue to live on during the Imperial Period and would become the creditor for the Empire's restructured currency. This was out of the New Order's necessity for the banks rather than a gesture of good-will and the IBC was kept on a tigh watch. During the Rebellion era, the banking conglomerate made no move to switch their support to the Alliance to Restore the Republic, feeling that it could gain profits by crediting both sides.

It was only after the New Republic was formed that the Banking Clan became the creditor for both governments. The IBC would continue to be under Imperial control until the formation of the Galactic Federation Triumvirate in 138 ABY.
