  • Kagi was the nickname of a Human male clone trooper who was in the service of the Old Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, holding the rank of captain. In 19 BBY, following the formation of the Galactic Empire, Kagi was tasked with preparing Emperor Palpatine's Theta-class shuttle for departure to the Outer Rim world of Mustafar, where the Emperor recovered his injured apprentice Darth Vader.

    Biography

Born in the world of Kamino, "Kagi" was the nickname of a clone trooper captain serving the Old Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. After the death of General Grievous, Chancellor Palpatine formally dissolved the Republic, replacing it with a Galactic Empire with himself as Emperor. Sheev Palpatine, secretly the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, attempted to wipe out the Old Jedi Order to secure his power; in response, Jedi Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi set out to kill the two Sith—Yoda confronted Palpatine in the Senate Rotunda, and Kenobi fought Darth Vader on the Outer Rim world of Mustafar. Once Palpatine forced Yoda to flee, he felt that Vader was in danger; the Emperor turned to his assistant Mas Amedda and had him inform Kagi to prepare his shuttle for immediate departure for Mustafar.

    Behind the scenes

Captain Kagi was first mentioned in 2005's Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. The only reference to the captain was a single line of dialogue spoken by Palpatine prior to his departure for Mustafar. In 2008, the trivia book Obsessed With Star Wars was the first source to reveal any additional information on Kagi; one question asked for the name of the clone captain who was tasked with preparing Palpatine's shuttle, revealing Kagi to be a clone trooper and not an ordinary crewman.
