Nan Latourain was a male Human Jedi Master who served the Old Jedi Order during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. At the Jedi Temple, Master Latourain taught classes in codes, ciphers, and encryption bypasses.
Biography[]
A Force-sensitive, Nan Latourain was trained in the ways of the Force by the Jedi Order before passing his Trials of Knighthood and ascending to the rank of Jedi Knight. Delving into the work of the Sentinel, Latourain became an expert slicer and attained the rank of Jedi Master at some point in time.
In the year 24 BBY, two years before the Clone Wars took place across the galaxy, Latourain was stationed at the Coruscant Jedi Temple, having been offered a position as an instructor. Accepting, Latourain taught classes in codes, ciphers, and encryption bypasses at the Temple academy to older initiates. Famed Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi studied under Latourain during his time at the academy.
In 19 BBY, the final year of the conflict between the Old Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance, Nan Latourain was stationed at the Temple when Order 66 was issued by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, who was in fact the Sith Lord Darth Sidious that the Jedi were hunting for. After Anakin Skywalker had fallen to dark side and became Sidious' apprentice, Nan was able to escape the destruction of the Jedi Temple, resulting the beginning of the Great Jedi Purge.
