Wedge Antilles, a Human male, was a famed Corellian pilot and general, known as a hero of the Rebel Alliance and New Republic. Orphaned at age seventeen after Imperial forces killed his girlfriend Mala Tinero, Antilles would eventually enlist at the Skystrike Academy after Imperials killed the crew of a surrendering rebel ship, earning the designation TIE SS-2-5. He was later able to defect to the Rebel Alliance with Sabine Wren's help. A standout starfighter pilot, he was one of the few to survive the Battle of Yavin, after which he founded Rogue Squadron with his friend Luke Skywalker. Antilles and Skywalker built Rogue Squadron into a renowned unit, and after the Battle of Hoth, Antilles took command. He flew as Red Leader in the Battle of Endor, striking the blow that destroyed the second Death Star alongside Lando Calrissian and becoming the only pilot to survive both Death Star runs.

As the Rebel Alliance became the New Republic, Antilles continued to serve, gaining a reputation as a consummate soldier and the New Republic's greatest pilot. He led Rogue Squadron in a covert mission to bring down Coruscant's shields, allowing the New Republic to capture the galactic capital planet. When denied permission to remove Imperial leader Ysanne Isard from power over Thyferra, he resigned with his squadron and led a private guerrilla war that successfully toppled Isard. Accepted back into the New Republic, he formed Wraith Squadron as a commando unit and led it in operations against the Imperial Warlord Zsinj.

In 9 ABY, Antilles accepted the promotion to general that his friend, Supreme Commander Gial Ackbar, had long desired for him. As a general, he reluctantly moved out of the cockpit and into a role in fleet operations, frequently commanding the Star Dreadnought Lusankya. During a mission to the planet Adumar in 13 ABY, he ignited a romance with Iella Wessiri, a friend in whom he had been interested for several years, and married her after the mission's conclusion. They had two daughters, Syal and Myri, as Antilles became Chief of Staff of New Republic Starfighter Command and then finally returned to command Rogue Squadron in 18 ABY. In 19 ABY, after peace was achieved with the Imperial Remnant, Antilles retired with more than twenty years of service to the Alliance and New Republic, ten as a general.

When the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy in 25 ABY, Antilles emerged from retirement, becoming the commander of New Republic Fleet Group Three. He participated in the failed defense of Coruscant, then retreated to Borleias. There he made a stand against heavy opposition for several months longer than expected and defeated the famed ex-Warmaster Czulkang Lah, inspiring hope across the New Republic that the war against the invaders could be won. In 29 ABY, Antilles was one of the commanders in the Recapture of Coruscant that ended the war.

He returned to retirement, but after being imprisoned by the Galactic Alliance, the New Republic's successor state, in the run-up to the Second Galactic Civil War, Antilles escaped. He joined the forces of his homeworld, Corellia, as it revolted against the galactic government, reluctantly taking a side against his best friend, General Tycho Celchu, and his own daughter Syal, who had become a Galactic Alliance pilot. He served as the Supreme Commander of the Corellian Defense Force, but he came to believe that the Corellian regime was itself corrupt and immoral. He resigned and instead offered his services to the New Jedi Order, led by his lifelong friend Luke Skywalker. Skywalker formed a Jedi Coalition and, with Antilles's help, destroyed the Centerpoint superweapon controlled by the Corellian Confederation, then went on to defeat the Galactic Alliance's Sith leader, Darth Caedus, and end the war. Afterward, Antilles retired for the third time, hoping to finally be able to live quietly with his family.

Biography[]

First Galactic Civil War[]

Skystrike Academy[]

After Imperial forces massacred the surrendering crew of a rebel transport near Teralov, Wedge Antilles enrolled in the Skystrike Academy, located on the planet Montross, to train as an elite TIE fighter pilot. However, his true allegiance was to the Rebellion, for which his job was to search for pilots that desired to abandon the Empire. After contacting Fulcrum, the secret agent relayed a message to the leaders of the Phoenix Cell. They dispatched the former Imperial cadet and Mandalorian explosives expert Sabine Wren on an undercover mission to rescue the cadets. Sabine infiltrated the Academy as a cadet under the name "Ria Talla".

Antilles would eventually meet "Ria Talla" during a TIE fighter simulator exercise, in which they destroyed several rebel Y-wings but hesitated at shooting an unarmed transport. As a result, their fighters were destroyed by a simulated version of the Ghost, flown by Captain Vult Skerris, who lectured Antilles and Wren that the consequence of insubordination was death in combat. Following the exercise, Antilles warned Wren that people at the Academy did not usually care about ethics. After Governor Arihnda Pryce and Kallus arrived to investigate rumors of defectors, Gahree argued that they were undertaking risky action, but Antilles told him and Klivian to relax.

Escaping Skystrike[]

Later, Antilles met with Wren at a hangar bay where he confided his unease with the recent simulator exercise. He voiced that he had not signed up to kill indiscriminately, and finally expressed a desire to leave, to which Wren revealed her true name and reassured Antilles that the rebels had gotten his message. She then told Antilles and his friends to be ready to leave at a moment's notice, but when he asked Wren about her plan, she responded that she would think it up, much to Antilles' surprise.

An opportunity to escape arose when Pryce had Commandant Goran order the cadets to engage in a mock combat exercise in space. When Wren's support CR90 corvette arrived, Antilles, Gahree and Klivian followed at her direction towards the rebel corvette. However, Governor Pryce disabled their solar collectors, leaving them stranded in space. Under her orders, Captain Skerris destroyed Gahree's fighter as a warning to the rebels and drove away the rebel vessel. Antilles, Klivian, and Wren were brought before Pryce, who demanded to know which one of them was the rebel agent and threatened to fasten Antilles to a torture device. To protect him, Wren identified herself as the agent. The trio was then separated, as Kallus escorted Antilles and Klivian to their holding cell.

Inside, the two pilots argued about the merits of escaping without a plan, when they were freed by Wren after she had escaped from Pryce. Being pursued by stormtroopers, the trio fled down a corridor only to run into Agent Kallus, who due to his encounter with Wren's comrade Garazeb Orrelios, helped them to escape by telling them to head to Hangar 24. Once there, the fugitives commandeered a TIE/sa bomber. Antilles piloted the slow-moving craft which was pursued by Skerris' TIE Interceptor. Despite taking several hits, the trio managed to escape when Wren's rebel comrades arrived in their CR90 corvette, they made the jump into hyperspace together. Upon their arrival at Chopper Base on Atollon, they were greeted by Commander Jun Sato, who welcomed Antilles and Klivian into the rebellion.
